Glenfiddich 12 Year Old

So, I’m, sitting in the FNB Slow Lounge, sipping this great whisky and realised I haven’t done a review of Glenfiddich 12 Year Old, which should be a staple in every whisky cabinet! I must admit that the Tasting Room is looking pretty bare at the moment, but stick around as I’ll be adding a good couple of whiskies to the list in the coming months (I’ve been lazy!)

They say:

Nose: Distinctively fresh and fruity with a hint of pear. Beautifully crafted and delicately balanced.

Palate: Characteristic sweet, fruity notes. Develops into butterscotch, cream, malt and subtle oak flavours.

Finish: A long smooth and mellow finish.

I say:

Nose: lot’s of fresh fruit, hints of vanilla – 7.5/10

Palate: initially sweet moving into dryer malt flavours of oak and leather- 7.5/10

Finish: smooth but not lasting 3/5

Served with: just about anything. An extremely versatile single malt that can be enjoyed with a mixer or on the rocks.

My Rating: 18/25

One for every whisky lovers cabinet, a great every day dram!
